Thnx Kymco 460i
This is my first quad and have not driven anything other than my partners 2011 CanAm 650 outlander...I find it very comfortable but out of my price range...he is not a speed demon but likes the power if needed...
I a 64 year old female only interested in a safe comfortable pleasurable ride...may need to keep up with him for short distances one and a while but won't be the norm...
We live in north western Alberta Canada where there are really nice quad areas to ride..
I have no fear of quading but am very cautious just the same..I have only ridden on his property...flat and treed..... I am looking forward to venturing beyond the gate ..lol
Like you say, I need to find a comfortable machine..
I am looking ...really looking..
I sure appreciate everyone's input and the time you are sharing with me..
Thnx so very much
Regards
Jo..

My wife's name is Jo too! She has a 2010 Grizzly 450 and loves it. Was mine first. How well it has been serviced, how many miles (kilometers)/hours it has, should also way into your decision. If the 450 has the lowest hrs., looks the best, and is 800 cheaper it very well maybe the best buy.

Carb and no power steering. We have had no trouble starting it with temps down in the 20's.

This particular quad doesn't have it either...it gets very cold here at times...like -30 C and colder...won't ride in those temps anyway..lol....but does get very cold..
I really do like the machine tho..
I have given up on the 700... Now looking at newer grizzly 2012 FI ..PS...2000 km...more money of course but VERY NICE AND WELL KEPT machine...
Going to see it today ...4 hr drive to get there tho...
Oh well nice day trip
Will be back lol

Pretty much anything Yamaha will be good, if it was taken care of. For that matter, about any non- Chinese brand of ATV....if taken care of would serve you well. How did it feel when you rode it....how did it fit you?

The 550 has efi. Power steering was optional on the 550 and 700. I have ridden a 700 with eps and its very nice. Never tried a 550 or 700 without it so I couldn't tell you how much harder steering would be. My 660 takes a bit of effort to manuever in tight terrain at low speeds. And that's with stock wheels and tires. Its possible that 10 year old steering components are a bit worn out, that might contribute a bit to the heavy steering. I would assume the non-eps 550 and 700 models are still easier to steer than the 660. If the 550 is in excellent shape and for a good price and you like it, it would be a great choice. Should be plenty of power, the 550 is only slightly less power than the 700.

One question, are you planning on using the machine just to ride for fun? I might recommend another quad entirely that you might like better that would actually cost less. One I in fact owned at one point. The Yamaha Wolverine 450 4x4, which was only built from 2006-2010, would be a great choice. Smaller in size than the Grizzly models but with cvt auto and 4x4. Much more nimble and manuverable. Not quite as much power but a very torquey engine. No low range but the gearing is a bit lower to compensate, top speed is about 50 mph. They are getting harder to find though. Here's one relatively near me 09 wolverine 450 4+4. I think they had a short production run because they were kind of an in between machine. A bit sport and a bit utility. No factory racks but aftermarket ones were available. They look more sport quad but with 4x4 cvt auto and decent ground clearance, they were quite capable. The only real weakness was the lack of top end speed and any onboard storage but for trail riding, they are great quads. Power steering was never available either but steering is much easier than on the Grizzly models. They also didn't have efi but I never had trouble starting mine in colder temps. No independent rear suspension but I think it still had a pretty comfortable ride. The solid rear axle cut down on weight and made the machine feel a bit more sporty, lowering the center of gravity somewhat. Still have about the same ground clearance as a Honda Foreman with a solid rear axle. I think if you can find one near you, its one I think you would like.

Hi all
Back again...did not like the grizzly 550 2012...was asking $6,200.00.. Hid the fact it had been rolled...went down to $5800.00 but still didn't like it..lost my trust... 4 hour drive..
Going to see another that is a 5 hour drive south this time...grizzly 700 2011 ..300Okm
With step up seat and snow blade for $7000.00 ..just reduced it by $500.00 ..this one used to check irrigation and give kids rides on farm..
While down south will be looking at a 2012 CanAm 800 xt 1316 Kim's...asking $7500.00
Well looked after and stored inside...
These are the two machines I am partial to....
Just don't know...CanAm or Grizzly...lol.
Thoughts anyone...please
Again..thanks all..
Jo

Those prices seem high on used machines. The new Yamaha Kodiak 700 would be one to look at too. It has the same 708cc engine as the new 2016 Grizzly but costs less. The big difference in the Kodiak and Grizzly 700 is how the cvt is tuned. Its a little more responsive on the Grizzly, the Kodiak has heavier clutch weights for a slightly milder low end. Still would be plenty responsive. No diff-lock on the base Kodiak either but still has 4x4 with high and low range. Seat on the new Grizzly is a little softer too but the Kodiak isn't bad http://www.holzhauerpromotorsports.c...diak+700+epsse A new Outlander 570L has about the same power as a Grizzly 700 2016 Can-AmŽ Outlander L 570 Stock: 002444 | Holzhauer Pro Motorsports. Retail price is listed as $6799 but realistically could probably be had for around $6000. One with power steering will run about $1000 more. The 570 has plenty of get up and go. Even the 450L has surprisingly good power, its about equal in power to the Grizzly 550. Here's one of those brand new with power steering for $6699 http://mattoon.craigslist.org/snd/5484344215.html. Obviously these are all near me so prices might be higher where you live.
