Sounds like my kind of plan.

Fools are born every minute, but you're not one of them.. It's the fool that sold this thing for a 12 pack of beer.. Now that I see the pics, get the seat repaired,do a thorough service front to back, and hopefully you may have a machine that will last you for several more years..

Put gas in the tank today and it quickly drained out of the rotted fuel line... Put on a new fuel line, filter, cleaned the air filter, and put in a gallon of ethanol-free gas and gave it a few pulls. Nothing. Then I realized the key was still turned off. Turned it on and it started on the second pull.

Choke was on so it idled high and steady; no smoke on start up and everything sounded solid. But, once it started warming up, it wouldn't idle. I was ecstatic that I was even able to get it to run. But, I'll be taking the carb apart to clean it up and see if I can get it to run better.

Worked on the supposedly burned up and toasted rear brake assembly the other day. Pulled the hub off and the brake shaft that goes through the hub flange was corroded up.

Pounded it out, sanded and polished it with 320 and then 400 grit sand paper, greased everything up and reassembled. Brake pads still had over 50% of pad left and the drum looked perfect with no abnormal wear.

Everything now works perfectly! Now getting ready to take the seat to a local upholstery shop and going to sand and paint the foot pegs and racks.

The front tires and rims are in good shape, but the back tires need replaced and the back wheels have some deep rust pitting that require sandblasting to make right. Will likely just buy new rims.

Not bad for an initial 12 pack investment.
