Default 99 big bear 350 valve adjustment and oil???

Used the seach and didn't find a definitive answer on valve lash specs. Someone said that the specs are sometimes on the air cleaner lid, didnt find anything there. Also, what oil does everyone prefer for the 350? It's got a plow on it and works pretty hard during the winter.

I adjust the valves on my 95 Big Bear the same as my warrior which is intake .06mm-.07mm and exhaust .16mm-.20mm. Not sure if the Big Bears should be the same as the warriors but was told on a forum somewhere they where and they big bear runs good.

I think the owners manual spells out what oil to use. Should be 10w 40, most of the year and 10w 30 when it gets very cold. It will also specify SG oil.
The oil shouldnt have moly in it, which is why SG oil is called out. Look for motorcycle or atv specific oil, as they dont have moly in it.

Thanks for the oil info, I don't have an owners manual, hence the question.

I pretty sure the valve lash for a 1995 warrior is intake .04" and the exhaust is .06" I'm sure the big bear is the same. That is what I set mine on.

Default Starter issues

just picked up a 99 big bear 350 for plowing and exploring blm roads by my house. At first it turned over but didn't start because the fuel was set to the reserve tank setting. But then It wouldn't turn for enough time to try and get it running. It was like that started didn't have enough power. It wa also hooked up to a running pick up so couldn't have been a dead battery issue. After getting a new battery where do it think I should start with the started.

Thansk in advance. Bought it for $700. Hope it wasn't a bad move.

It should have started on reserve if it was going to, res just picks fuel up lower down in the tank. Is there any fuel in the tank? It is extremely rare for a starter to get "lazy," quad starters usually work, or they don't. So most probable cause is bad earth or loose starter lead connection to battery or solenoid. Charge the bike's battery up and check those connections before going further.
