Description:
Got started in this sport about 18 years ago on the old fat-wheeled (but much fun) three wheelers. We have ridden almost every type of machine and terrain across the western US...but now do almost all dune riding. Occasionally we go to Hollister Hills (dirt hills) or to the Mojave. But Sand has become #1. Main annual trips now are at least a week long to Oregon Dunes in July; Glamis at Thanksgiving, Christmas week, and President's Day week; various shorter trips to Pismo to enjoy the Pacific Ocean; and then we throw in Dumont, Sand Mountain Nev, Sand Mountain Utah and St. Anthony's on occasion.I also Jet Ski on the many lakes around here in the summer, but do not let that interfere with ATVing. Also do some snow skiing, and go to Phoenix for a week on MLB Spring Training in March. Some day I want to go to Wallace Idaho and ride those trails. We started out tent camping, then got an Alpha toy hauler (pull), then a Weekend Warrior (5th wheel), and now a Rexair MH with 27' Pace enclosed trailer. Hard to say which I like best!I ride with an ATV club, and our most popular trip every year seems to be the Oregon Dunes trip. One good thing about riding with the Club is that I get a chance to ride all the different models of ATVs. Someone always has the newest release!I eventually get around to modding each of my ATVs....mostly pipes, air intakes, and jetting. The CDI boxes on the 4-strokes seem to help a lot also. I usually ride them stock for a year or so to evaluate them, and to compare the aftermarket products that are developed. I prefer to stay out of the engine itself and try to protect that reliability. One thing I definitely don't like is breaking down in the Dunes.Ride safe and have fun!
