All ATVs were single-cylinder until 1987 when Yamaha released the Banshee. It made use of a 349cc, 2-stroke, liquid cooled, twin-cylinder engine configuration.

While many manufacturers have since followed up with twin cylinder engines in the time since, the Banshee remains the only factory 2 cylinder 2-stroke ATV ever produced.

Bonus Fact: Largely unchanged throughout its entire production run, the Banshee remained a staple on Yamahas ATV line all the way until 2006 in the United States. Not the case for all of North America, however, as Banshees were still sold in Canada for the 2007 and 2008 model years.
