Product Review: Enduro Engineering Moto Roost Deflector
Protection where it is Most Welcome
By: Jason Giacchino

When it comes to contact to your sensitive fingers/ knuckles from overhanging trail foliage and rocks from spinning tires ahead of you, there is no such thing as too much protection. Gloves come equipped with additional padding in this region for that reason but ask anyone who’s been hit with roost or who has snagged a glove on a particularly long thorn, the whole region can stand to be better protected. Enter the Moto Roost from Enduro Engineering.
What is it?
The Moto Roost Deflector from Enduro Engineering are hand guards/ roost deflectors constructed of durable polyurethane atop a nylon covered aluminum bar.
How does it Install?
Billet 6061-aluminum mounts clamp onto your quad’s handlebar (whether you are running 7/8 or 1&1/8 diameter bars). These mounts contain a spring-loaded pivot designed to rotate in the event of a crash – reducing the risk of damage to the guards themselves in a rollover situation. No drilling required.
The Ride
We mounted ours to our Polaris Outlaw 450 MXR with minimal clearance issues and spent a full season of trail riding and MX racing with them in place. While we were fortunate enough not to have had a chance to test their durability in an end over end crash, we can attest that they offered complaint-free performance for the entire duration of our time with them.
This is one of those products that can easily be forgotten about entirely after that initial installation that quietly improves the very quality of the riding experience. You may even go as far as to be convinced they aren’t doing much of anything until you notice the scratches and gouges in the surface indicating countless deflections that would have come in contact with your fingers or levers if the Moto Roost wasn’t there.
Any Complaints?
Not really. We have heard that certain ATVs are a bit trickier to install these deflectors due to clutter on the bar (the Yamaha Raptor 700 for example). Because of this, you may wish to visit forums dedicated to your particular ATV for fellow owner experiences before purchasing.
Color Options
Fear not in attracting unwanted attention with mismatched colors, Enduro Engineering offers the Moto Roost in blue, yellow, red, green, orange, white, black, and even clear.
Price
The Enduro Enginnering Moto Roost Deflector kit (which includes both guards and all of the required mounting hardware) go for a very reasonable .95- Replacement polyurethane guards can also be purchased for .95.
Conclusion

Considering the high replacement cost of levers and the vulnerability of a rider’s fingers, we are advocates of additional protection. The fact that the mounts pivot to avoid crash/snag damage is what separates Endure Engineering’s offering from the rest.
