Ask the Editors: DS650 CDI Blues
Dear ATVC: I bought a DS 650 with no CDI box. Last owner wired in new box that did not work. I since got a factory CDI but don’t know where wires plug in. I have a connector but don’t know order in which to place wires. Can anyone send me picture please? sailorjack50
Why the OEM CDIs on certain models come not pre-harnassed is truly beyond us. Locating a clear schematic has proven nearly impossible, even with our connections but we did track down the following, which makes it look like the order would go as follows:
Red – 12V
Black/ Yellow – In+
Black – In-
Black/ White – Out
Black – Ground
Aside from that bit of assistance, the only other advice we were able to track down came from a personal friend who wired an OEM CDI box into his 2003 DS 650 and he said this combination has worked since without fail (do keep in mind there are two solid black wires, each a ground):
Red – red/violet
White – black/yellow
Orange – white/green
Black – black
Blue – black
Green – not used
