Ask The Editors: Can-Am DS650 Engine Transplant

The big DS got several changes throughout its life. The frame wasn’t one of them.
The Bombardier (Can-Am) DS650 was produced from 2000 -2007 and in that time received a whole plethora of improvements and trim packages along the way. Among these were improvements to the suspension, a higher revving CDI box, changes in the stance and length, addition of an oil drain line in the later versions and they managed to lighten up some of the internal engine components by the time your 05 came around.

The good news, however, is that no changes to the DS frame were ever made. This means mating up your 05 mill to the first production year frame should be a near plug and play modification.
