One plow to rule them all.

Dear ATVC: I have a Honda Rancher and I’m looking for a blade for snow and gravel. Rear or front blade? BlueEagle

As we’re sure you’ve discovered- finding an ATV plow good for snow removal detail is pretty easy. Finding one rated to move heavier material like dirt, sand and gravel on the other hand, can be a real chore.

Contrary to common misconception, a majority of the blades on the market today are plenty burly enough to handle the additional stress of pushing a material like gravel; where the trouble usually comes in is that the sharp edges of gravel and stone can flake and remove the blade’s finish, which in turn compromises its ability to buffer snow properly.

One of the few units we’ve used for both tasks was Swisher’s 2645R 50-Inch Universal ATV Plow Blade. With a 50-inch rolled blade for a wide swath and 1/8-inch corrugated steel construction for powerful snow-breaking and terrain-leveling capabilities, it also boasts blade-surface saving skids.

The cutting edge is reversible and replaceable and this is one of few units we are aware of that the factory itself (Made in the USA) claims “The heavy-duty construction with extra supports makes this plow great for tough jobs like moving gravel, dirt, and sand.”

It retails for about $475 and can be mounted using either Swisher’s 2646 mount kit or 10260 mount kit (or a universal mount). Once installed, the plow can be attached and removed in seconds without tools.
