Ask The Editors: Replacement Tire for My Favorite Maxxis

The Maxxis All Trak – gone but not forgotten.
For starters, we’re glad you’re still a member and out there shredding trails. Time does have a way of slipping by quickly, especially when we’re doing the things we enjoy.
Onto your question – well, first some good news. The Maxxis M9209 “All Trak” is actually still pretty readily available. Sizing is a bit limited to what dealers and distributors have on hand but it is possible to secure a new set if you look hard enough. Here‘s an example of one in stock from Chaparral.
if you can’t secure the size you’re looking for, the next question is one of where his Raptor will likely be spending a lot of its time. You say in your question that your concern is mud performance but we have to assume this is only where the quad will be spending an insignificant amount of its trail time by the fact that you’re looking for an all-purpose tread rather than something like an AMS Swampforce, which would really deliver unrivaled performance in the mud.
Your assumption is correct, the ITP Holeshot is a very solid all-purpose tire but with a leaning a bit toward hard-pack and loose conditions than it would be for inching through the soup.
If you want a do-it-all with a bit more of an appetite for mud, give the Kenda K587 Bearclaw HTR a look. If you want to stick as closely to the tread pattern of the Maxxis All Trak, the Kenda Klaw MXR is a very comparable meat.
