Ask The Editors: What Do You Know About My Carb?
We need to know a bit more to be sure.

Dear ATVC: I need help identifying and procuring of a rebuild kit or a new/rebuilt carb for my 400 4×4. Thanks.

Your pics of the carb are nice and clear but this is one of those cases where the year, make and model of your ATV are crucial in determining exactly what we’re looking at. The 130 designates this particular unit as a Mikuni 130 Series (which typically means it’ll run a # 130 main jet).

At a glance it looks similar to the N-series carburetor Yamaha used on models like the Kodiak or 98-99 Arctic Cat 4x4s that were powered by Suzuki engines. Let us know this missing information when you can and we’ll be happy to steer you in the direction of exact rebuild kit you’ll need.

If you don’t have access to any information regarding the machine it was taken from – bring the entire carb to your local shop. They should be able to size the jets for you.

Lastly, here’s the guide we turn to when it comes to properly identifying a Mikuni carburetor.
