We like to think the designers and engineers in the off-road sector come up with the wildest designs for future vehicles but it seems like the automotive companies keep coming up with stuff that isn’t even from this planet.

To that end check out Hyundai’s Elevate concept vehicle if our word isn’t enough! Fully electric, road legal and the ability to walk just about anywhere. Yup, not a typo- it would have the ability to pick up any of its wheeled legs and step its way over trouble.

“This design is uniquely capable of both mammalian and reptilian walking gaits, allowing it to move in any direction. The legs also fold up into a stowed drive-mode… this allows Elevate to drive at highway speeds just like any other vehicle. But no other can climb a five foot wall, step over a five foot gap, walk over diverse terrain, and achieve a 15 foot wide track width, all while keeping its body and passengers completely level.”

Love it or hate it, we definitely wouldn’t want to be tailed by one of these things. In fact, if Star Wars taught us anything about being pursued by walking vehicles, it’s that maybe we should be mounting harpoons and tow cables to the rear of our machines just to keep the playing field level!
