ATV Tech: Pitch

We deal with pitch every single time the ground turns skyward or descends. We counter this shift in gravity by body positioning: Leaning forward over the bars on steep climbs and hanging off the rear of the ATV when descending. Pitch is also the factor responsible for moves like the wheelie or stoppie.

Pitch plays a tremendous role in ATV handling over jumps. The endo (when the front end dips lower than the center of gravity) and the loop-out are the two extremes of losing control of your ATV’s in-flight pitch.  Again, we counter this force with body positioning, but also by panic-revving  to try to bring the front end upward, or tapping the rear brake to bring the front end downward.
