ATVMX National Championship Round 7 (Briarcliff) Results
Round 7 is in the books.

Round seven of the 2022 ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX), an AMA National Championship, was hosted at the highly popular Briarcliff Motocross facility located just outside of Columbus, Ohio and would serve as another round in the quest for the Pro championship. The weather was looking great as race times approached and once again the fans and spectators would get to see another chapter written between Phoenix Racing/CST Tires/Elka/Moose Racing’s Joel Hetrick and Wienen Motorsports/Maxxis/SSi Decals/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Chad Wienen as the pair continue to dominate the results.

The Fastest Qualifier award fell once again to Hetrick as he pushed his Phoenix Racing YFZ450 to the limits proving he was again going to be the racer to beat. With two solid qualifying sessions behind them, the AMA Pro riders were once again set to put in an epic set of motos and provide those in attendance with all of the excitement we have become accustomed to seeing.

Moto one was a sheer dominating performance from Hetrick as he secured the holeshot and lead every moto until the race ended. A real battle behind Hetrick developed between Wienen and his protégé ML2 Motorsports/Walsh Race Craft/Maxxis/Yamaha’s Max Lindquist with Lindquist edging out for second over Wienen who followed him across the checkers with a third place performance. Finishing just off the podium was a hard charging Rastrelli Racing/FXR Moto/Rocket Machine Design’s Jeffrey Rastrelli in fourth and GennUSA Racing/Integrated Financial Concepts/CST Tires/Walsh Race Craft’s Nick Gennusa would round out the top five.

As moto two gated, the question was if Wienen could get a start he could build on and get back into the fight for the overall. Hetrick came off the gate strong, but he was having to battle his way to the front as the moto got underway. With both of the series top guns doing their best to get out front, the lead was soon overtaken by Hetrick who finished the moto with the lead, securing the overall win, Wienen would work his way into second and finish the moto and race in second. The battle was on behind the leaders and by race end, Ford Brothers Racing/Fly/SSi Decals/Maxxis/DWT/Maxima/Fourwerx/Walsh’s Bryce Ford would claim a podium finish with third but his first moto effort came up just short of moving Lindquist out of the final podium spot that put him on the box with third overall, placing Ford in fourth on the day. Rastrelli’s efforts were strong as he rode to a respectable P5 on the weekend after going 4-6.

Podium celebrations were held, and the work finished for the day as cheers and champagne filled the podium. With three rounds remaining and Hetrick still holding a sizable points lead; all bets are off as to what will happen at the remaining rounds. The final three events could prove to be the most intense of the season!

Pro Sport was once again an action packed race that would see the highs and lows throughout the results with Aaron Salinas going 1-3 to claim the overall after a set of very intense motos. Brett Musick has had his work cut out for him all season as the talent in this class has grown with each round. Musick would claim second overall after a 3-2 performance. Joseph Chambers has had a mixed season in Pro sport but here at Briarcliff he came out swinging and would put in a solid set of motos earning him third overall with his 6-1 finishes.

The WMX class was another close race with Kinsey Osborn claiming the overall after her 1-1 performance. Andrea Berger and Niamh Shaw would swap finishes with Berger coming out on top in the second moto to claim second handing Shaw the final podium position.

In the Pro-Am class it was Aaron Salinas coming through to earn the overall win after going 1-2 on the day in Ohio. Molander would go 3-1 for second overall, but he still continues to hold the points lead in the class. Joseph Chambers went 2-4 to rounded out the top three overall finishers at round seven.
