Honda Shows Off Electric Pioneer

Silent but ready.

The entire mechanical world has been enamored with the concept of electric-power for quite some time and while electric-only ATVs and SxSs have been around, it seems to always come down to a few key concerns keeping them in the background: Long charge times, low operating times and expensive, heavy batteries.

Honda thinks a lot of these concerns can be addressed in one fell swoop and demonstrated an all electric UTV concept at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV.

Rather than hodgepodge together a collection of batteries, Honda thinks a universal power cell is what the electric segment really needs; one that could be used in any of their electric equipment from personal people transporters (think Segway), their scooters, electric motorcycles and of course their ATVs and UTVs.

The logic here is that a few packs could always be charging while others were being used so that a simple swap out means continued power output.

Which is another of their innovations; vehicles with slots to carry their own spare cells. Swap-ability on the go can double the amount of operating time.

Honda’s certainly got its collective eye on the future with this one and we have to admit, that nuclear blue glowing cell design looks pretty futuristically bad-ass to boot!
