A road legal SxS? You have our attention.

One of the more common complaints we receive from enthusiasts centers on the concept of why many towns and communities have no trouble with golf carts being operated on public roads but then crack down on side-by-sides. While there are a lot of hypocritical reasons for this, we have long said that it would be a really wise move by any of the manufacturers to capitalize on this legal loophole.

It looks like Kawasaki got the memo. They’ve been teasing an all-new platform they’re calling the NAV – which, if our suspicions (and trigger-finger fast screen capture abilities) are correct, will be a vehicle designed to bridge that gap between the two types of machines.

As much as we’d like to share more (things like what will power the NAV – internal combustion or rechargeable battery, what will be its stop speed, how off-road worthy will it be, etc.), the truth of the matter is these would only be guesses.

Their latest teaser trailer does show such amenities as touch screen navigation similar to that found on premium KRX models and, well, we see there will be a roomy, lockable glove box, a front storage trunk and a beefy-looking bumper.

Other than that, we’re going to have to stay tuned to further announcements like everyone else.

We’re hopeful that the trend of making vehicles that blur the line between a genuine SxS and golf cart succeed simply so that the authorities in many areas that have a bias against SxSs will start to realize many of the differences between them come down to silly stereotyping and misconceptions.

Yamaha has already been blurring that line with vehicles like their UMAX Rally and Kawasaki’s latest endeavor looks to only further weaken the distinction.

Here is Kawasaki’s latest NAV tester trailer:
