Coming to America.

Most ATV aficionados may remember a time when Austria’s KTM offered OEM race quads but what even they may not realize is that the brand has messing around with 4-wheelers long before that.

The X-Bow (Cross-Bow) has been around since June of 2008 but, until now, available in the US only as a kit car sans engine so as to get around governmental regulations/ requirements.

However, it looks like for 2018 in effort to celebrate 10-straight years of X-Bow production, KTM has decided the US is worthy of its own complete model. This is great news but not unlike the company’s ATVs, this new unit will not be designed for street use; sold for closed circuit competition use only.

Spec-wise, the X-Bow Comp R we’ll be getting is powered by a 330-horse/ 310 lb-foot torque Audie 2.0 Turbo 4-cylinder mated to a machine that weights only 1,750 pounds! To date, in a full decade of production, some 1,200 X-Bows have been sold the world over.

KTM is also offering early US adopters the chance to snag the limited edition KTM X-Bow Comp R 1st Edition; a machine boosted up to 350 horsepower that will include all the factory-offered bells and whistles a racer can ask for.

Not to worry if the SCCA homologated X-Bow is out of your bank account’s league, a good portion of the units sold will likely be purchased by track-owners and promoters so as to make track day rentals a possibility for racers of every budget.
