Meet the Honda TPC450R

Years ago, for those who weren’t around to remember it, the media did the ATV industry a terrible disservice. Through agenda-slanted reporting, they began to run coverage of the dangers of the then-popular 3-wheeled ATVs to the point of general public panic and lawyer involvement. Personal injury cases resulted in charges against the manufacturers themselves. The Consumer Product Safety Commission got involved and, despite finding that a majority of the injuries stemming from ATVs were the result of rider negligence and improper safety gear, the damage had already been done. What resulted was a decree prohibiting the manufacture and sale of 3-wheelers on American shores for a period of 10-years.

For the industry, this was a setback for sure but it prompted extensive development of 4-wheeled ATVs, a trend that has carried on to this very day some 18-years after the decree expired.

Some riders, however, never accepted the premature termination of the 3-wheeler. Bill Casey was one such enthusiast, only unlike most of us, he decided the world had gone with out a full-fledged performance 3-wheeler long enough. Back in 2003 when Honda announced that they were releasing an all-new high performance quad, the TRX450R, it didn’t take long for Casey (TPC’s founder) to realize that this was the quad that he’d been waiting almost 20 years for.

Then in January of 2006, Casey announced his plans to the world by revealing that he had purchased a brand-new ’06 TRX450R with exclusive plans to convert it into his dream trike. The rest, as they say, is history.

Since its well-received introduction, the TPC450R has competed successfully in numerous races, bringing home wins in multiple classes. It has also traveled to many different riding areas where dozens of test riders have been awed and amazed by its versatility, durability, and comfortable riding position.

The TPC site is home to a variety of performance kits and modifications, proving Casey’s unwavering dedication to the 3-wheeler scene (among these a gusset kit for the Honda 350X frame, custom 250R frames, ATC skidplates etc.) But our readers often ask if it’s possible to purchase the potent TPC450R itself.

The answer is a resounding yes though such a custom doesn’t come cheap. There are essentially 3 ways Bill Casey can put a TPC450R in your garage: For $2,600 you can buy the frame. What this does is it allows you to convert your TRX450R quad into a TPC450R. However, yours is the responsibility to secure the plethora of Honda motorcycle parts required to make the transition (CRF450R fork, handlebar mounts, steering stem/ bearings, fuel tank, radiators, shrouds, front brake, front wheel bearings, carburetor, cylinder head, and valve cover).

For $5,500, you drop off your TRX450R and TPC handles the rest for you.

Starting at $9,000, TPC will build you a TPC450R from scratch.

We can tell you from experience that showing up to just about any race facility in the world is akin to climbing out of a factory semi or hitting the McDonald’s Drive-Thru in a Ferrari. People notice!

What’s especially interesting is that rumors abound that 2018 will witness the arrival of a new-from-the-ground-up Honda TRX450R quad… We’re already excited for what Bill Casey will have in store.
