Slime Spare Flat Tire Repair Kit

undefinedLet’s face it; there are few areas in society where a stash of slime is considered a good thing.  Fortunately for us ATV riders, Slime with a capital S can make all the difference between riding home after a trailside flat versus hiking out of the woods in the hopes that your stranded machine will be there when you return.

While there’s no shortage of companies out there with tire repair products, you would be hard pressed to find a kit as complete, portable and rugged as the Spare Flat Tire Repair kit from Slime.

Packaged in a durable storage case, this handy 48-piece kit contains literally everything a rider could possibly need to repair a flat from the comfort of the trailside foliage including plugs, patches, valve stem cores, tools, 24 oz bottle of Slime’s patented Tire Sealant, and a 12-volt air compressor!  Fear not if you’re wondering where you’re going to capture the required 12 DC volts to get the unit up and running, the kit includes a cigarette-lighter adapter should you happen to ride with UTVs or off-road trucks.  If you’re more of the “lone wolf” type, the kit even includes a terminal adaptor that allows the unit to run off any ATV battery (just remember to keep your quad idling when you’re running the compressor so as not to drain your battery).

The compressor comes standard with a light as well since, as Murphy’s Law dictates, a majority of your dilemmas will take place not only miles from civilization but after sunset as well.

We’ve been fortunate enough to have had the kit along for a few flat tire repairs that were transformed into mild inconveniences rather than ride-ending affairs.  The kit is a very natural fit in the bed or toolbox of a UTV although flat-fearing sport quad riders could certainly stuff it into a backpack without any issue.

Complaints are limited to the fact that the kit relies solely upon the included air compressor for tire inflation purposes.  Not a problem considering it worked without flaw both times it was called upon during our testing.  However, if you ride a quad without a battery (sport quads in particular), you’re pretty much out of luck.  The simple fix would be to drop a few CO2 cartridges into the kit but then that would pretty much mean lugging around the compressor for nothing.

For utility quads and UTVs (side by sides), purchasing this kit is a no brainer thanks to abundant storage and the electrical output required to run the compressor.  Sport quad riders and anyone else without a battery to draw from, a few plugs and CO2 cartridges is probably still the way to go.
