It can only be a couple things here. First let's try a couple things:

1) Using a multi-meter set to Ohms, check that you have a good ground from the engine case to the battery negative terminal.

1.1) If less than 1.0 ohms, then you are grounded good. If more than that, you have either a loose or corroded ground somewhere.

If the ground tests are good, then move to step 2:

2) Using a multi-meter set on VDC, check to see if you are getting 12vdc @ the starter terminal when you try to start it. (This would be the large cable coming directly off the starter solenoid).

2.1) If not, then check @ the starter relay to ensure you have 12vdc on the input terminal (not trying to start the engine). And when starting, see if you get your 12vdc on the output. If you are, then the solenoid is functioning properly.

3) If all the above check good, then you have a bad starter.

Run those tests (should only take a few minutes as it sounds like everthing will be easily accessible since it's on a go-kart) and we can go from there.

Well what I'm actually trying to do is bypass the safety mechanisms (parking brake, neutral) and just make the engine run without hardly any wiring. Also is there any way to bypass the external ignition box?
Thanks again
