Default tao tao 125d

I bought my kids a pair of tao tao 125d used from a friend of mine. Have had them for a few months now and always ran great. They have new Carbs and spark plugs put on when i first bought them because they sat for awhile. I took my sons down the road the other day and it was running fine then all of a sudden it started cutting out like it was out of gas and died. I have not been able to start it since. Its hard to describe but when trying to start it doesnt have that deep starting sound like it did or like my daughters still does. Just sounds like something isn't engaging maybe? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Im not positive there is a line coming out of back of carb that has a clear filter looking thing in the middle of it. That wouldn't be a fuel filter would it?

A fuel filter would be on a line between the gas tank and carb.

It doesnt have a fuel filter and its getting plenty of gas. I called tao Tao they told me to adjust my valves and if that doesnt work to call back. Do valves seem like they could be the problem

Id get a fuel filter to keep small dirt particles from getting back into the carb.. Valves could need adjusting.. but I doubt it.. Ive never had to adjust any of my 4 strokes valves.. it takes a lot of high rpm running and or a lot of time to wear out valves..

Just talked to the guy at the shop. He did a compression test and it didnt have compression. He went in and re adjusted the valves still no compression. So guess the motors bad.
