Can you post some pictures of your starter motor? Especially the "gear". And some engine pic's too would help. What does that starter motor gear engage inside the engine?

is this the starter?

is it top or bottom mount? i'm not too familiar with taotao.
this taotao parts dealer may can help.....this dealer was listed on taotao'l main website. it has a list of all taotao starters. just look for your specific model of 110. like a D or B after the ATA.....

Well thanks guys. That starter is what the dealer has but its not my starter. I'll get some pics but my starter has splines that turns a gear not a chain like all the others ive seen. The gear also rides in a bearing in the starter housing and the starter is on the top.

Did you look at the link above? They show quite a few starters that have a splined shaft.

Eagle Atv Parts

I don't recommend the guys at Eagle. They didn't treat me very well. I ordered several part off of the website, and they were all wrong. When I called about it, the guy said, "Yeah, I wish you would have called. The website isn't always right."
They wouldn't return my stuff, and I feel like it was their mistake. If the website says it will fit all 250 atv's, it should fit. Not a single part worked. I called another dealer in the New England area, and they were awesome!
Just make sure you talk to someone before you buy the parts. These models change all the time, and the parts lists aren't always right. Make sure you buy parts from someone who has a return policy. I'll never shop Eagle again. They're too sketchy for me.

So I assume the chain sprocket came off and left just the spline drive on the starter to the sprocket exposed? I never thought of that...

I'm glad you figured it out.
