New to me 110cc Quad..

So, Here is a little back story..

My uncle has a pair of these for his kids and they ran great.. Well, they sat for a few years due to them growing up and what not..

He did drain the gas prior to storing them..

So, He gave both of them to me with a deal in mind.. I get them both running I can keep one of them..

I stuffed them both in the back of my truck and wanted to surprise my son..

He almost S*&T himself when he saw them.. He is 5..

Took a look at them and saw one had no battery and the other did..
So I starting to Tinker with that one (With battery..) threw it on a charge.. nothing.. Hooked to a jumper pack.. Nothing, just a brake light and a click..

Ran out.. picked up new battery and followed the directions on adding the Acid, and the inital charge..

IT CRANKS!!! WOOHOO!

but no starting.. :go crazy:

Check for the basics:
Fuel: Check!
Spark: Check!
Air: Well, Check..

Just cranks till battery wants to keel over and die.. Check that the choke is actually opening on the carb.. it is.. Pulled off fuel line going to to petcock and its getting there...

Tried the Petcock in both directions to make sure..

Still nothing..

Any thoughts??

Being the Photog I am, I assure you, there will be pictures and a video of Maiden Voyage!

Also, note I checked the Kill switch on the handle bar and on the back..

sitting that long i bet the carbs are gummed up? He may have drained the fuel but probably did not drain the carbs. Even if he did they probably got moisture and other crap in them from sitting for a few years. One thing you can try is take a old squirt bottle and fill with fuel and squirt down the throat of the carb. I have seen them where they get a air lock in the carb and will not push it out until you can get it started.. Once you get it running this way try to keep it running for a few min with the bottle. If they wont stay running or start after that you are gonna have to pull the carbs and clean them

Do yourself a favor the carbs are like 30$ change it if it's getting spark and you have compression your problem is the carb and make sure the boot "from carb to head" is good as well.

So, I took carb off, cleaned it out.. did not take it apart..

Hooked battery up to it.. it just cranks..
Sprayed a little starter fluid in it and it fired.. but then shut down..
Ugh! Battery is dead and charging now AGAIN!

So, the other quad, When I hooked the battery to it, it just CLICKS when I hit the starter button.. Possible bad starter? or Solinoid.. UGH!

Bout to chuck these and just buy a new one! Or drop it off a my buddies shop and have him do it..

if its starts with starting with starter fluid then carbs are gummed up..the only way to clean is to tear it apart..

You can use jumper cables from your truck. That way you don't have to wait for the battery to charge.
