125cc Semi-Auto loud slow knocking in neutral

Help, my new 125 cc Semi automatic chinese engine suddenly started loudly knocking in neutral. Stops when put in gear sitting still, but knocks when driving in all gears. Shifts fine. Any suggestions?

New engine or new machine? Did you drain the shipping oil out and refill? Check everything for tightness?

Any ideas what the knocking sound could be before I tear into it? Shift fork interference perhaps?
