Default 2005 kymco 250 mongoose POS

Ok guys...picked this beauty up very cheap. I know it needed alot of maintenance. But its for a 12 year old girls 1st atv. But it ran when i went and looked at it. Sat for a week at home. Went to start it...nada. was not getting spark. Cool...new plug. Nope. So after download manual. I have replaced cdi coil cap plug stator and the gear control module that contributes to spark manual said. And no spark...and now my neutral light wont come on unless i put my test light into on of the gear control module wires. But still no spark. Key turns on...all lights work. Put new carburetor on it as well. Bad ground somewhere??? I am at a loss on this one. Normally i can figure these issues out. Any help would be appreciated. Next step is taking harness off and going through it. Oh and i forgot to mention. Previous owner hardwired the starter to a direct switch.

Not sure what type of ignition system your bike will have. Go through the Lyn Edwards ignition checks that you will find on here. A bit long winded, but you should be able to pin point where the problem lies. I would put the old gearchange module back on, looks like your new one is a dud.

Thank you for the response. Found them for $7 online. Went ahead and ordered it. Fingers crossed this is last issue.

Welcome to the forums.

I had one of the CanAm 250's, which was this same quad, just different name and plastic. Should be a very good first quad for her, once you get it running.

Only complaints I had was it could be a little wider for more stability and it could have used a little more power. Although that was probably more me than the quad. I got a 2006 model as a second quad for my wife and she liked it. Never any running issues with it.
