Hi everyone,

Newbie here to China quads and new owner of a Monster Joe “Mojo Pro 80”. Information about these quads has been very difficult to find but I’m hopeful there are people here that can share expertise as owners of these specific machines or other China quads with similar setups.

For general info, the engine is a GY6, 80cc (casting stamp is FY147QME). It didn’t come with an intake or carb so this is primarily where I’m looking for help. Looking at carbs online, I see most for GY6 engines have an electric choke, versus carbs with a manual choke lever on the side. Can anyone confirm if it’s likely electric or manual? I have an unused yellow&green two pin plug on the harness near the rectifier which would make sense for an electric choke on a carb.

For the carb size, I’ve seen recommendations on a 50/80cc gy6 to run carbs with a 19mm (inner diameter) intake. Main jet size #75 and pilot jet #35. Is this too small?

I am also considering replacing the wiring harness and electrical components. I haven’t been able to test it, but the stator on my engine has 8 lobes. Most replacements I’ve seen come with 6-lobe stators. Can I use a 6-lobe in place of an 8 lobe?

Finding the correct swan neck inlet manifold may prove more difficult than finding a carb. I would fit a manual choke carb as you are stuck if you buy electric and find those wires were not for the choke. The jets for any circa 80cc ATV engine are going to be about right, some carbs have adjustment so you can tweak them to suit your motor. Why start changing ignition components before you find out if the ones you have, work? If you have the electrical knowledge to fit a "universal" wiring loom, you have the ability to fix the loom already fitted.

Regarding the wire loom, there are a few wires that were cut and re-spliced, mostly ground wires, that had me concerned but I’ve had a bit more time to go through it and study diagrams for similar atv setups. I will need a new handlebar switch (current one is broken) for sure and the pin connectors are brittle and breaking but those are an easy replacement.
