Linhai 260SE 4x4 General Info
The engine is a clone from a Yamaha scooter from the late
1990's. TaoTao 300, Monster 300, and others use the same
engine and transmission (built by Linhai) upsized to 276cc.
The power rating, 19 HP at 7000 (and max Torque at 5500),
is not far off but mine seems to lose power above 5000.
It has maybe about 15-20% less power than my Honda
Rancher 350 (which is 325cc and 21 HP but is not a CVT).
I like driving the Linhai and it can handle rough terrain, but
the CVT slips a lot at low speed in High gear. Low gear is
great for pulling and steep climbing but top speed is then only
15-20mph (and you have to stop to shift). It looks good
overall (for the price) but I had some setup issues,
then later some problems that required repairs and mods.
The fuel system on mine had a problem: it would stall out
and then not start, unless I got lucky but then it would
not idle. I got no help from the online dealer. I eventually
figured out how to fix it after a lot of troubleshooting.
Linhai provides a 30 day warranty on parts only! Many dealers
have gone out of business due to extended warranty repairs.
I strongly recommend buyers have repair experience, a good
set of tools, and a copy of the service manual.
