Z400 Wiseco 440 big bore kit
#1
I am looking at the Wiseco 440 big bore kit and for 239 It seems like a good deal. I was wondering if you guys heard anything good or bad about it! If I get this done will I need a new clutch basket cuz of all the torque?? Is there anything that I need to know about it?? Thanks

That is the exact kit being installed into my Z as we speak...you do not need a new clutch basket, but I would definetly recommend getting both HotCams, new carb, and port and polish, igniton, etc while you're at it. None of these are actually needed but will do so much more for the bike. I should (should being the key word!) have it back within 2 weeks. I am having it dynoed for tuning and will let you know how it is and what kind of #'s it puts out!

doing JUST a big bore piston is a waste of time unless you have everything else to back it up
porting, valve job, cams, carb
i real big bore kit installed will run you around 1200
you can get a 453 kit from CT racing for 1950 installed with EVERYTHING you need.

How much of a difference would I notice with just the 440 kit, it says
"Turn your Z400 or KFX400 into a fire breathing monster with this 440 Big Bore kit. Sleeve installation required, no other engine mods needed. Comes complete with sleeve, piston, rings, clips, pin & gasket kit."
So if i were to just get this would it be good???

in my opinion NO.
For a 440 to run at its fullest potentional you need more than just a big bore piston. You need the porting and other mods to back it up.
You would probably hit 40, with a pipe and a new carb. With porting, polishing, valve job, and new cams you'd hit around 55

Well with the mods I have I was assured by Trinity Racing that I would have just around 40hp now. See I eventually want to get all that but I dont have the money so for now I might just go with the 440kit and then eventually get all that.

You can see the mods I have and I will let you know what kinds of #'s it puts out when I get it back. I know I should buy a new carb, but I'm only 16 and quite frankly, BROKE!!!! So it will be a while before I get it. I am hoping to be around 50. The dyno that we are using is the EXACT same one as Dirt Wheels used for their pipe test a while back, so it will be interesting to see how the #'s compare.

the only motor mods are a pipe and jet kit that i see on your list. Thats like 33-35hp. a pipe rejetting and air filter will not give you a 12hp increase. If trinty told you that they are lieing. Those mods give about half that. 5-7hp.
This is my advice, take it if you wish.
Wait till the end of the riding season. Take the head off your bike, send it off to get ported and all that good shiznit. Next order yourself both cams..
If you still feel you want more power, then go for a big bore kit.
Think about some things before getting a big bore. They can be unreliable, they run hotter, more matentence is required(oil changes ect), and sometimes they are a just a big pain in your as*.
I had FST do my 330 kit, i loved the power, but i hated the oil changes, all the time. I would of been happier with just the cam, high comp piston, carb, porting and carb i did.

i dont think i would ever seend my head in for a port abnd polish... to many times have i seen it come back with LESS power.. or no differnece at all...i also agree though... put your cams and all taht good stuff in
then do the 440
then do the 440
