HELP! on my 86' quad sport 230, my chain keeps poping off, I pulled it back on, rolled it backwards to get it on, and rode around, it felt solid, than i went up a paved hill in 3rd, and it fell off and coiled up , i put it on angain and pused it back, i didnt really look at the sprocket, but it didnt look bent, one of my rear tires was kind of low on air, could that be it?

Your sprocket could be worn out go look at it or it is to loose.

If your chain is poping (popping?) off when it is adjusted properly, it could very well be your chain is stretched & no amount of adjusting will correct that. With your chain adjusted to specs, grasp a link at the center of the rear sprocket and pull it away from the sprocket. If you can see 1/2 or more of a tooth, your chain is shot and possibly the sprocket also from running a bad chain. Check the sprocket also for any hooked teeth. If any are found, replace the sprocket. Running a new chain on a worn sprocket will ruin the new chain is short order.

i know exactly what it is, if your chain is tight and the sprockets are good, its the swing arm bearings and the wheel bearings, it happend to me on my old 3 wheeler the chain is tight but it pop's off, well get the ebarings and id bet its fixed, cause when the axel or the swinarm shifts even an inch or a inch and a hal;f it will cause it to pop off, i know from experience

I've had two 230 sports and the first one did the same thing. My rear bearings in the carrier were shot so I think if your sprockets are ok then the bearings are your problem.

hey blake350, you almost got it, i was checking it out looking for all the things you guys told me to, loose sprocket, bad teeth, (by the way, the chain is brand new)
ect. the problem was with the swingarm area, it was all cracked up, if i would have driven it anymore, the rear end would have fallen off! thanks guys
