What would YOU get, Raptor or Banshee
#1
Ok, I was just about sure that I was gonna get a shee, and then I found some used 01 raptors for around 3999 and the banshees I was lookin at were just a little less, (3600+-) and thought the raptor might be a better deal, I LOVE doing wheelies and I know the raptor is pretty good at that SO... I just thought I would get your oppinions, as you propably already know, I will be riding in gravel pits with just a couple blasters, so dont have to worry at all what kind of power it puts out, so for the extra $$$ is it worth it??

It depends on the riding type you do. I dont know how big your gravel pits are and if you have woods to go through or whatever else you have to ride on. The Raptor is more a do everything quad than a Banshee. If it's all loose stuff you ride on I think you'd have more fun with a Banshee. If hard pack or muddy terrain is thrown in there then the Raptor will be easier to run. Either machine will do you fine.

I had a 2001 raptor, I personally would not get one because of all the problems. I never had a problem with mine, and I traded it off for another banshee. Best trade I made.
Dont get me wrong, the raptors are nice, but I ride dunes and after the first trip with the raptor I was sorely disapointed.
On the suspension, the raptor has a little better geometry to it then the banshee, but as for travel they are the same.
Personally I would get the shee, but I love them.

I dont ride in very loose gravel, me and my friends have a little track made out, with a few jumps and climbing the side of th pit (pretty steep) and jumping off the top, we can make any jumps we want to also, right now the pit isnt very big but they keep working on it and will eventually be 5x bigger than it is now, I know this doesnt really, really matter but I like the looks of the raptor better, but I also like the sound of a shee. But if the raptor is easier to hold a wheelie on, and pick the wheels up, just going slowly, I would deffinatly rather have the raptor, could you tell me what problems the raptors have??
Thanks,

You didn't state your experience, age or weight.
I have both a Raptor & a Banshee and while I ride mostly in sand, I have ridden both in dirt as well. My feelings are: sure the Banshee is antiquated, but outside of the light switch powerband it rides pretty predictable. The Raptor on the other hand in stock from (suspension) is very tippy. It's has the typical mellow easy to ride 4 stroke powerband, but the tippiness is not a very comfortable feeling. Personally, the Banshee is really only at home in one element... "The sand", everything else it will do okay, but sand is were it excels. I also had a 97, 350 Warrior, it to was antiquated in design, but predictable/non-tippy. If you're younger, say under 180-190 Lbs I would suggest a good used 400EX. It's has good, predicable handling, pretty bullet proof and you can pick them pretty cheap these days.

I am 15, 6' and 130lbs but I think I would like something more powerfull than the ex, would a +4 axle help any for the raptor? I know it may seem like I am leaning more towards the raptor, but thats because I have asked alot of questions on here about the shee, so dont need to know too much more about the shee, I still might give the ex a chance though, Ill see.

The raptor is a fine machine, but skip the 2001. The gear spacing in the sand is horrible. The tranny had problems, carb boots coming off, one way in the starter going bad, and I beleive there were other problems. Wheelying (sp??) is definately easier on the raptor, or 400ex.
I dont know for your riding condtions maybe the raptor would be better, but again skip the 2001.
However, when you get blown away by a banshee dont come crying to me. LOL J/K. They are pretty evenly matched.
