I have a 99 400 4x4 Scrambler. Its shaft drive in front. I need to Kill some of low end. Can I change the front sprocket from a 13 to a 14 tooth? I have a 421 big bore, 200psi. compresson, race gas, Delta Force reeds, stock carb except for jetting, (Which Iam planning on a larger carb soon) I was told by a Polaris Mech. I could. Thanks for your info

Goto your dealer and order Polaris P/N 3233537, its a 14T C/S sprocket.

I may be wrong here but I dont think you can regear it if you have front shaft. If you regear the rear then when the front kicks in it will be way mismatched and cause all kinds of problems. If it was chain front and rear it would be a differant story.

Andy I agree with you. But I have been told it will work in 4wheel drive. I am going to put a 14t on and leave it 2wheel. (Maybe try 4wheel? )

I have wondered the same thing and was told by Rick Ritter that you can use a smaller rear sprocket (or larger front sprocket). A problem will occur if the front end senses the back end to be spinning freely. The same thing might occur if you kept the stock height front tires but switched to a much shorter rear tire. As long as the back end is (pushing) the front and not being (pulled) by the front you should be OK. I will post my results as I plan to try out a 2 to 4 tooth smaller rear sprocket or maybe just go 1
tooth larger up front.

1998 Scrambler 400 with to many mods to list.

Hey Jerry I called two Polaris dealers and they told me that part#3233537 was the retaining clip for the sprocket. They had no listings for a 14t.

I happened to stumble upon it at work so I'm not sure what application it's from. Polaris does'nt have it listed in their accessory catalogs. I'll double check the P/N today and let you know.

I bought one and wrote the P/N down for future reference and I have 3233537? Do they use Lightspeed NX for parts look up?

I think Sunstar and Sidewinder have sprockets if you can't get one from the Polaris dealer.
