I am awaiting a drag raptor 01 to be shipped to me and they've had no prob with the tranny yet, should i worry?, or are some OK, any opinions would help, thanks

well it is coming from a drag specialty shop maybe they have done that already, it is running exelnt right now , but thanks for input that is the first time i have heard of that being a solution. your serious right?.

To my knowledge every 01 has the same gear set. The basic problem is the strength of the dogs that engage the gears together. There are 3 dogs (kinda like metal tabs) on the 01s and Yamaha changed to 4 dogs in 02. I think it's a safe bet that if it's an 01 it's gonna have problems if ya run it hard. I'd strongly reccommend updating the tranny to 02 parts before you blow the tranny and possibly ruin a drag motor in the process.

Try again. I have reports from the CPSC with vin # from 00220 up to 20,000+ that have had the failure. Mine was 1600 somthing.

 

sorry thats what i was told.dont know too much about them though

 

i havent had any trouble and mine is 19400

seems to me there's greater failure when ppl mod the engine. I havent, just piped it. maybe that makes a diff, i dont know.
