Loose Chain
#1
While tightening my chain, I noticed that I had the adjustment bolts in all the way, and the chain had right around 1.6 inches of slack.
2-My question is: is this okay, or is it time for a new chain?
3-Is it possible to just take out two links and loosen the adjuster again?
4-If I do need a new chain, I would also need new sprockets, right?
5-I have very little experience, and was wondering if this is a hard job, or if I could do it(and if I should buy a Clymer's manual)
6-Finally, How much should the chain and sprockets cost?
I'm really sorry for all the qs. I don't know anyone experienced where I live who can help me (sigh)

When ever u get a new chain u must get a new sproket or your new chain will wear out faster. There is a sproket and chain kit for $99at ronnies.u get a DID chain a sunstar 16y22/40 sproket & a sunstar 34913 sproket. I dont think changing the sproket is too hard. It is easy.

If you're going to replace the chain there's no need for a chain breaker..just pop the clip off the master link & pull the master link off. When installing the new chain be sure to replace the clip with the closed end towards the front of the bike. I already told you about a tool for pressing on the side plate in my e-mail to you. I don't know the torque specs on sprockets on Blasters but any Yamaha dealer service can tell you, or that shop manual you asked about.
