Should i get a Banshee?
#1
Hello all, i'm debating whether or not to get a banshee or maybe a 400ex. I was leaning towards the banshee cuz i can get a used 1 cheaper. I'v been having some reliability problems with the scrambler and my parents are fed upp with having to buy new stuff so i was looking for something that won't break down often. The 400ex would be the obvious choice i know but I luv riding the banshee and the power i'm just worried about reliabilty. And is there any major things to look out for? Its ok if little things break as long as i don't need to replace the bottem end or buy a new frame or something like that. I just don't want to be constantly replacing stuff. And what do I all have to do for maintance? And how often does the top end need rebuilt?
Also i found i banshee for sale I'm thinking about looking into. Tell me what u think, its located here: http://www.traderonline.com/cgi-bin/...search&pstat=P
Theres also this 1 that is only about 45 min from me except it is ported and i dunno how less reliable it will make it.

Well i myself just bought a 2000 banshee, I have been smiling since, As far as reliability if you ride it like any other person you will get years out of a top end, And only if you crash really hard will you be looking into frames, My advise is to buy new.

unless you've got money to burn, i'm disagreeing with these other two guys. if you can find a decent STOCK banshee only a couple years old, why not save $1500 or so?? the 2000 banshee is the exact same thing as a 1999 as a 1998 as a 1997. the key is to find one that has been cared for. look for frame fatigue/cracks, check front ball joints, suspension bushings, and take a compression tester with you.
yamaha hasn't dumped engineering money into the banshee in 100 years, why would you want a new one?

Not only should you by a Banshee, but you should
praise this awesome quad. Whether you buy new or
used do a price comparison. By the way maybe I should be addressing your parents, since they will
be purchasing this quad for you.

hummmmm...........I disagree.........if your parents are tireed of spending money the banshee is the most expensive quad to work on since everything you do to the motor you gotta do twice.............you gotta have quite a few extra plugs laying around................gotta mix gas......................gotta kick crank...............I would get a 400ex since its a little more reliable.................. but not quite as fast though................either one are good quads.....................you'll be happy with either......... ok later man

Well i was thinking the 400ex but most of the used ones I'v seen are atleast 5,000 i don't wanna spend that much. If i do get a banshee i'll definently buy used. I i can get a good clean banshee for around 4000$ or less and i can prolly sell the scrambler for about $4800 atleast. that'll give me money i can use for whatever i need to buy for the banshee.

dear fricken god, get the 95! that is sweet as all hell. but the 97 would be faster. either one would be way more fun than a 400ex. if u get the ex, u'll get eaten alive by banshee's. and then u'll be saying "why didnt i get a banshee?!" it's worth the 10 dollar quarts of oil and the kick starting. trust me. i got rid of mine for a warrior. right now i'd take a 92 or 93 banshee for my warrior. the warrior is a breeze compared to my old banshee.
