smoked my rear
#1
I went riding today on my raptor and a horrible sound came from the rear. I got it home and pulled it apart. The bearings were lying inside the hub and the axle hub and the axle sleeve were all chewed up. My problem is that I want to know if anyone has some info on what is the best way to fix it. Should I stay stock or go aftermarket? Can I still use my stock swingarm and axle if I go with aftermarket? What about the axle sleeve? Do I need it if I can use an aftermarket axle hub? I would also like to know the most cost effective way because I am strapped for cash. Please give me some info if anyone can! Thanks.

I went through the same problem wit my 300ex. I too damaged the sleeve. If you got lucky your axle carrier is still ok then you can buy the bearings, sleeve, etc. for probaly around $80 - $120 around 80 if you find the bearings and seals on ebay for a good price, but the rest has to be OEM. Inspect your carrier where the bearings seat, if its chewd up at all throw it out. Get yourself a aftermarket carrier, lonestar makes one for around $200, they come with double row bearings and the sleeves are already installed, all you have to do is add grease and slide your axle back in. I got one for my 300ex, made a huge difference.
