I just got my reservations at a cottage near Silver Lake, in Mears MI. It sleeps 4-6 people. So far I am by myself (darn friends with jobs!) and so I am inviting everyone to come up for a day or two or the whole week if you can. The more the merrier! The cottage is about 10 miles south of Silver Lake down by Stony Lake. It has everything except sheets, food and charcoal. So what do you say Greg and Rhonda? Nick? Quinn? Anyone else? Anyone just PM me and I will give you directions. I will be there from Sunday June 29th through Saturday July 5th. I will also be at Silver Lake on the 6th and 7th, but I don't know where I am staying those days. I am racing at the Sand Drags I think on the 5th or 6th. I hope to see lots of you there. I will make my nearly world famous secret-recipe chili one night.

There is limited space at the cottage and it is first-come, first served, and the price is right - FREE. So try to make some time to keep me from being lonely and bored. Later,

I am planing on going to silver july 3-6, but I will be staying at silver city with some friends and family.
I am thinking about running the drags on sat, but not sure yet.
Want to see what my Z does in 300 feet.
I will be on the dunes friday and maybe sat. if I dont race and can get a voucher.

Greg finds out this week about his shut down. I think it falls in that time so if it does we will be up there for a couple of days too. I will let you know in a few days. Keep your fingers crossed. I am anxious to run again too.

 

RhondaV - if you guys can make it you are welcome to stay with me! All of the campgrounds and cottages are booked up. Your only other option would be a $100 a night hotel room. At my cottage you would have room to work on your quads, a full kitchen, an outdoor grill, and my great cooking! I hope you can come! I want the first shot at racing the 400.

Any good drags at silver lakes????

 

At the dunes there are informal drags. People line up in the flats and drag for about 100 yards. Trucks, sand rails and quads all race, but usually each species only picks on its own kind. At busy times it is pretty wild. There are 10 wide racing and 20-100 people lined up along the drags just watching and cheering. That is on a normal weekend. I have never been there on a holiday weekend before, so I imagine it will be MUCH bigger.

There are also formal drags at Silve Lake Sand Dragway (I think that is the name). They race EVERYTHING from quads to purpose-built 1000HP sand dragsters. That race is the weekend after the 4th, I don't know if it is Saturday or Sunday, the 5th or 6th.

RR1 we are in. We will be coming in on Sunday evening and staying until Wednesday. We are getting a place at the Seirra Sands because we are being a few more people along with us. Our cell phones won't work up there so just swing by the Sands hotel and look us up before you go to the dunes.

RR1 if you have never been up there on a holiday you have missed out.
There is about 3 times as many people up there.
I have seen people lined up 3 vehicles deep all the way down each side of the drag strip.

ALso it is the West Michigan Sand Drags or Raceway, something like that.

I will also look for you.
I have a yellow Z(ct pipe) and I will be riding with a red 400ex(fmf pipe) and posibly a black and white raptor(Yoshi pipe)

 

Well RR1, Rhonda's 400 is now something like a 408 since the piston burn through on it's first time in the sand. She ran really well a few weeks ago. I will me making a couple new changes to her set-up before our July trip. She will be a lot stronger this time.........I will have to watch myself. ha ha For some reason she wants to beat me. I would think that she would know me well enough by now to realize that it would only ultimatly cost her/us more money. Because I would be working on mine again. It was a riot to watch her out there. She was loving it. We were watching when a girl rolled up to the line on a Banshee, Rhonda said "Hey, I'm gonna go race this Chick". I had to laugh. But, she went out and beat her. I was proud of her.

I should have my DYNA igniton up and running by then, so I hoping to be stronger too.

I would like to find someone who was there on June 8th. who may have been running a video camera on some of my races. We didn't get much of me.
