Default Air filter and jetting

When you install a new air filter (k&n,Uni) do you need to jet up or down? I am having some jetting issues with my 04 sp400, and was wondering if I just put a hi flow air filter on instead of jetting down would this help? I live a 4500 ft and ride at up to 7000 so stock jetting is just killing my performance.
Thanks
Chris

CS it's always a really good idiea to keep an eye on your jetting. Have you ever thought of, or heard of Dial a Jet? It's from Thunder Products, and with your riding, that sure would benefit you. I'm not sure if Hot Seat still sells them (Hotseatperformance.com), or you might be able to go to Thunder Products Inc. directly.

I've never personally used their kit, but I did use their UFO, and it worked as advertized. I've heard of people having good luck with the dial-a-jet also.
