Default Raptor off Idle STUMBLING Help Please

I have an 2001 Raptor with a yoshimuro offroad pro pipe and header and a k/n pro charger air cleaner and a stage II jet kit.

The Raptor will start right up and if you let it run for a minute or two it will stumble very very badly if you try to just accelerate hard it cuts out horribly untill you back off some it does this in all gears.

Once you get past the stumble of 3 to 5 seconds it trys to clear and runs, Sometimes it will just die once you have rode for 2 or 3 minutes when you pull up to a stop and let it idle, but it will start right back up.

You can also smell gas when it is parked after starting it.

This Raptor should run smooth from off idle shouldn't it? I have just purchased it and it was told that it has benn sitting off and on since last summer and started once a month and ran around the yard then put back up but hasn't been really taken out since mid last summer?

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED FOR THINGS TO CHECK

Thanks

Try turning your A/F screws out and check for exhaust leaks

Whoa - if you haven't been messing with airscrews, don't touch them just yet...

Sounds like a possible float problem. Pull the carb, open up the float bowl, and make sure the needle is cleaned so that it seals. Or, leave the carb on the bike, and do the clear plastic tubing test to see if the needle/float assembly is working properly. If you need more detail, let me know and I'll dig up some better instructions.

Did the bike sit for any period of time with fuel in the carb? Or, has it been submerged? Seem to be the two most likely causes of the problems I'm talking about (on this board anyways).

FLOATS.............or needle and seat gummed up from sitting and not sealing.

My DS650 just started doing this to me also!! The off idle stumble only does it after you slow down and give it gas. I figured it out and yes it's my float adjustment, gas drips out of the overflow tube when you hit bumps. So this is most likely your problem.

Yup, first check the floats! Its the most easy thing to do. Then if that doesn't work pull the carbs to see if the fuel has varnished or gummed up. Surely you have fresh gas in it right?

What is the best way to check the floats and where should they be set at, it is heighth isn't it? I am used to the edelbrock performor's and holley's on the big blocks's, these little cycle carbs are new to me for the most part..

I did take off the air box lid alittle while ago and did seem to run alittle better???????????

It sounds to me like it's running rich especialy since it pepped up once you took the lid off. If the float thing doesn't get you going check and see what jets are in the carbs.
Was there a big elevation change from where you bought and where you ride it?

The jets are from a stage 2 kit that was put in when the yoshi offroad pro pipe was installed. I was given the stock jets also when i bought it...

The stage II comes with about six jets........you need to see which ones are in there.
What about the elevation thing?
