I can wheelie my 250ex pretty easy. But, I've got to be in 1st gear from a dead stop.
Pull back and throw the throttle all the way in and it comes right up. I've jumped
it 24 feet but man does it land hard. The stock shocks are not that great for jumping.

that depends on a lot of things. like how much do you weigh and what kind of landing. I have heard that you can bottom out the back shock kind of easy, but the kid that told me that was doing some pretty good size jumps.

It's not the fall that hurts, its the instant deceleration at the bottom. Translation: 250 ex is not suspended for jumping. Check out the new Blaster for jumps, wheelies and stunts. A few months ago Dirtwheels magazine compared the Ex & Blaster, read that for more on the topic.

You can only do a whellie in 1st from the stop??? On my buddys kids 250ex I can wheelie in 2nd easy... They are a good bike for a youngster starting out, low mantance, controlable power band, auto cluch and reverse.. What more could you want???

there great for wheelies, just pull it up in 1st, or even 2nd and just go through all the gears thats what i do. I can go through every gear. they also have a very good balance point so that helps alot.

Jumping?
ive jumped mine tons of times but flat landing really hurt. other then that jumping is ok, highly recomend a pipe though it really improves the power.

Mud- great for mud i have gator tires on mine and i can go though just as much and my friends stock kodiak.

hope i helped some
