Default Riding Gear---Pants, Jersey, Boots, etc

Just wondering if these things are worth the money? I have MX boots and helmet/goggles but was looking at some of the riding pants/jerseys and wondering about the pants mostly, so I won't destroy my blue jeans...I'm sure I'll be getting some sort of riding pants at the least

Are there any brands that are better than others or are they all about the same? Anything in particular to look for?

Do you get those funny looks from other rider that aren't wearing real riding gear? Not that I care what others are thinking as long as I come home in 1 piece!!

If there's anything out there that will keep me from getting burned, poked, prodded, scratched, bent, broke or otherwise injured I'm interested in it.....I'm not a sissy, just getting older and getting hurt now hurts more and takes longer to get better. For trail riding I have a pair of Moose Qualifier pants there is no padding in them but they dry fast and save my jeans, run around$40 a pair.As for a jersey I have 3 my favorite is a No Fear Electron it is light and drys fast,A Thor vented flow jersey it is cool on hot days,a MSR world tour heavy full cotton for cool weather. All the jerseys can be bought on ebay for around $20.And I do get some looks wearing full gear with my fat belley ,grey beard and 2stroke 4x4.But when the one looking ride with me they see why the old man has the stufff on.Not to mention that I do my own laundry and this stuff cleans up easier than jeans and t shirts.

Well I have MSR rage jersey , pants & gloves . Answer jersey , pants , & gloves .Also fly roost protector ,sixsixone forearm/elbow gaurds , MSR knee protectors , MSR kidney/back brace , MSR enduro tool pack , and 100oz Camelback.

I could care less how the other riders look at me or what they think , all I know is I have everything I need for a good ride and all the gear is very necessary when your in 5th gear through the desert . I can not imagine riding in jeans.
