125-200cc in 250r frame
#1
I am thinking about placing a 125 engine such as a yz or something, or a 200 dirtbike engine into a 250r frame. The only thing I am worried about is vibration. I know the 500's vibrate a ton, but William Yokley's non-counterbalanced KX250 quad, he says that the vibration is not a problem. So I was just wondering if a smaller engine such as a 125 or 200 will produce little or no vibbration? Anyone put an engine this size in a quad before? if so let us know how it came out. If it does vibrate im sure you could reduce it with rubber engine mounts or something.

This is kinda how they build the bikes that race the 90cc class in nationals. Most of them have custom made chassis as an R would be kinda big for that engine I woudl think. Maybe you should try this on a 250X or 300ex chassis instead?

Im not worried about power, since 125's come stock with around 32 hp, which is the same as the 250r. I just want to use that engine so I kick @ss in the 0-230 class and still compete with the banshees and R's in the open. I still want to know if the quad will be ridable with the vibration an engine of this size will produce.

I am sure that it will be rideable. I know a guy who put a cr250 engine in a 250r chassis and its not really that bad at all. He said something about putting a stator on it made it not viberate so badly?
A steering dampner would probably help a little also.
