Loud high pitch squealing noise coming from P650
#1
Hey everyone,
Yesterday we went out on a poker run and about halfway throught the run, my bike starting making this weird wistling noise. The noise seemed to be coming from the clutch area. As the day went on, the noise started to get louder. Today I took the bike down the road for a quick spin to see if the noise was still there. Well the noise was still there, and it was so high pitched, that it hurt my ears. I'm going to take the cluth cover off to check things out. Does anybody have any ideas what could be causing this. We went throught some pretty deep water holes, think water could of got in there. The belt doesn't seem to be slipping at all, just making that high pitch squealing noise. It doesn't see to do it when revving the motor in neutral.

Mine does that to, but olny at take of up to about 24 mph. It also does it a low speeds and I just moved my boat with it and it did the same thing. I know its not the belt becase for one it doesn't sound like the belt and I just put a new belt on 100 miles ago. I was thinking it might be the EBS, so maybe I could pull the fuse and see if it goes away.

I just took the cover off and it almost seems like the noise is coming from the primary clutch area. It may also be the EBS motor also. Find it really weird that it just started doing this.

Mine too makes a similiar noise. I usually notice it after letting off the throttle. It squeals loudest first and then fades some. Sometimes it does, sometimes it don't. I am not sure what it is, but I do not like the noise!!

Just went for another drive and it seems to come from the Engine Breaking System. I was pulling into the driveway and let off the gas, the EBS kicked in and I heard the noise again. I wonder why it's doing this.

The bearing on the clutch cover is bad, you will see it as soon as you remove the cover, the EBC plastic fork presses against it to put pressure on the belt, and unless the fork is against it it doesn't move, therefore it won't make the sound, mine was worse when i was slowing down below 10 mph, I replaced mine after 2500 miles, you have to get the whole cover as the bearing and cover are one part's piece, if you don't have any warranty left it will cost about 60 buck's......

That is exactly what it sounds like. Like a bearing that is going bad. Mine does seem worst when I slow down bellow 10 mph also. I still have warranty so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll have to give the dealer a call tomorrow morning to have him take a look at it.
