Default I got a new toy! "and need some assistance please"

YESSSSSS!!!!!!

I was invited to a cookout and volleyball get together and guess what I noticed sitting under a tree.... Some sort of a Honda 3 Wheeler in GREAT shape "sans motor, and black back fenders under the plastic" but otherwise 100% complete down to the chain, headlite etc.... with a NEW factory seatcover!!

Well I walked over to my friend I know socialy and said i noticed they had a Trike and if they would sell it....she said she thought her one brother cols it already but he would be home in an hour from work and would ask him then.

Dude comes in and about 15min later I go over to him and ask if thats ehr bro, he was like yeah... I said I noticed you had a Trike and wondered if you would sell it..he said yeah sure, apperantly he had the think to Blackwood in PA and forgot to check the oil 2 yrs ago and blew the motor. Well he lost the engine he pulled out when they moved into the place they are now 2 yrs ago or so and cant find it!
Here comes the cool part.... he totally blessed me price wise.... $5.00!!!
Yes, FIVE DOLLARS!!!! WOOO HOOOO I think it is a Honda 200X and part of the sticker says something something 0X at the end from what I made out The things is very good shape with rear tires at about 75% and I got a spare front wheel thats the factory Honda gold back then with a tire in the same shape "one on its worn to about 30% or so but has a ride or five left in it.

How can I verify what model it is? He said he thought it was a 125 I am almost POSITIVE its a 200X from looking at it. I have only seen them in pics but I really think size wise it is one. I dont think Honda made a 125 Trike????

I need a motor too, and trany just bolt it in really is all i have to do and hook up the rear brake and clutch and a carb. "unless its still there I forget" lol

How much will this cost ya'll think for those parts used? I could bolt it in myself. Anyone have one for sale?

Also he said he thinks its an 84 or 85.

Now all I need is a bike and a quad! But for $5.00 .....WOW!!!! I could'nt pass this deal up!!!!!!

Also when I pick up the back of the grab bar to lift it the shock or linkage clunks some and seems to wiggle slighty? I am not a mechanic but think the shock may need recharged or something?? when I push down on the rear it springs up FAST too. Any clue here??

Thanks guys/gals!! Tom...<WWJD?><

P.S> I dont have a digi cam to take pics of it either at the moment...
I did look at a atc site recently and think this is a 200X, 90% sure, as the 125M I saw had a hard front end and the only other one this looks like is the 350X and that I think is actually bigger then what i have so whatever.... Any estimates on how much it would be to "sorta restore" this thing? I wanna go cheap but nice.... Thanks again guys!

$5.00. unbeleivable. why cant i get deals like this? "He makes the rain and sun to shine/rain on the just and the unjust." I'm tired of rain!!!

Anyway, did it have shocks all around? If it did, then it could very well be a 200x. It should tell you somewhere on the frame what model it is. get a serial number if thats all you can find, and find out what it is from a honda dealer of go to the internet yourself. if you had pics I could tell you what it is, though b/c i happend to have grown up around the evolution of trikes and quads . I dont remember the 200x ever having gold wheels. The 250r did. But the 200x had silver then a polished look in 86.
From what you say about pushing down on it and it comes up fast, the rear shock is gone and will need to be revalved if possible or you will have to replace it. Could prob need new bushings as well. But for $5, what deal! Check EBAY for ATV parts. Yesterday they had billions (not really but alot) of parts. Im sure they had a 200x engine in there. I wouldnt go to cheap on the thing though. Fix it up right and fix it up nice. Dont half-**** it!

Hiya,
I have thouroughly lookd at pictures and am now 99% sure it is a 200X. Are all years interchangable parts wise? I just got done lookin on ebay and no motors. "booo!" I will come across one sometime.

I am thinking about powdercoating the thing, I am gonna get a price estimate this coming week. for the frame, swingarm and forks. I honestly dont have the knowledge or experiance to strip it and build a ground up thing, but I COULD try..... cough, cough... I just dont wanna mess anything up or have it nickel and dime me a lot. PLUS I dont even know what all the parts are called and what to look for. LOL

Yeah, the front wheel was thrown in as a spare. thing is NICE and it's not even chewed up on the rim at all! Prob off a 250R, your right.

I dont even really have any tools, but will try to make do with taking it down and putting it back together. I hope my old wrenches from my MX racing days work as far as basic sized nuts and bolts on the thing.

I could just get parts slowly and have them custom finnished "polished or powdercoated" and then after a year or so have acomplete Trike all done for myself.

How do 200X's ride? They OK? I hear a lot of people like em but i have no experiance on them. All the Trikes I rode were a long time ago.

Thanks for the fast response my friend. Have a great rest of your weekend.

Here is what I would do:

Buy an engine from a 200S. Cheap, auto clutch, lighter, will bolt right in. Get a new shock off of ebay. Run it till the wheels fall off.

Or part it out and get a couple hundred for a down payment on something else.

200x's are GREAT!! I used to have one with a 250 dirt bike motor in it, lowered =D but got rid of it.. My friend still has an 86' 200x that has been bored, ported/polished, durablue axle and that thing was the funniest to ride around in the trails, just dont slam them into gear without the shifter =X IF i were you i wouldnt get a 200s motor, go look around and try to find a 200x, shouldn't be that hard.. If you have to i think a 350x would fit (maybe?)

do you know what year it is? that will determine which 200x motor will bolt in. you can tell by the chain adjuster design. the 83-85 200x had the chain adjuster at the swingarm pivot and the 86-87's had the adjuster on the swingarm(conventional style like a 250r,350x,etc).
