Default Older Big Bear (help advise)

Hey
Ive got two older 350 4x4 Big Bears one is a 1992 im pretty sure (its a greenish colour) and the other one i bought for 50 bucks im not sure what year it is, its a dark grey colour, anyone know what year it would be? its pretty much the same as the other apart from some minor differences in the back shock etc, anyway I am building one good one outa the two and need some advise on a few things.
I am moving the battery from the stupid place by the wheel where it gets covered in cow crap, I was thinking of taking out the air box and putting a car battery in its place and then just pipe a small ramflow cone filter under the seat or tank instead of the air box, can anyone see why this cant be done or have a better idea? has anyone done this before?
Anyone know anything about the front diff on these bikes? It has that TCD on the front (torque controlled diff) or something are they limited slip? how can i tell check? and what is the adjuster on the side of the diff for?????
On one of the bikes the bottom A arms on the front the rubber bushes have been replaced with a solid nylon bush would this affect the bike at all? Are they rubber for a reason? stop vibration maybe or something?
Any help info would be much appeciated or if you just want to add some hints or comments all are welcome thanks in advance Dave

I would stick with the airbox. I am not sure about those years of quads, but could you put the battery under the seat? IT sounds like you like to check the pastures and such. This is why i would keep the air box. Crud and what not will be sucked into your "cone" idea real quick. Although this is what a lot of desert racers and use i think. As for the car battery, i think it would just be too big and might provide to many AMPs to the electrical curcuit. The Diff's are probably just like the wolverines. Some cheap weak limited slip mumbo jumbo. As for the screw, i haveno clue what it does. the bushings seem weird to me becasue i thought they were all hard plastic. But new ones will stiffin up the steering and get rid of the slop.
