Has anyone run across a six pack rack for the 400EX that's easy to install? If so what brand? We have PRM racks which require welding.

 

DG makes one thats bolt on check it out.

 

The guy that I ride with has a D&G on his 400EX. I don't know the model number but it appeared to bold on, no drilling.

It is a bolt on and you can get it in just a six pack rack or one with sixpack + a spot to carry 1 gal of gas, gas can included..

 

I have the PRM, and it did require welding, but it wasn't really very difficult. Plus, one look at that DG unit and the welding won't seem like such a bad idea. My God, is it UGLY...It looks like a a metal picnic basket strapped to the back of your quad.

 

Does your six pack rack ever hit the ground when wheeling? I have been thinking about getting one however I spend a lot of time on two wheels. That being the back two. If I'm just going to bend and scrape the hell out of it I'm not going to bother.

 

From the pictures it looks like the 6-pack racks hang out about an additional 4-5 inches past the grab-bar, so if your grab bar gets closer than 6 inches away from the ground while wheelying (sp?), you'll probly drag.

 

I agree, the DG unit is UGLY. The armadillo unit is easier on the eyes and wallet.

 

THANKS everyone for responding. I saw the DG and yes it looks like a picnic basket. The www.rockymountainatv.com web wouldn't load for me so the Armidillo rack was out of question. My business partner had bought a black universal rack for his LT-500, with a small bit of modification I mounted that rack to my 400EX. Its the first rack that I've ever seen the actually IMPROVED the appearance of an ATV, this one is painted black steel. Thanks to everyone again.

 

The Armadillo six-pack rack and their other rack with the gas can look very nice, and I'd really like to get one, but my only concern is all the added weight on the rear of the quad. Does it make the front end noticeably lighter? I already have enough trouble keeping the front end down, I don't want to make it much worse. Can anyone that has used a six-pack rack on a sport quad let me know how much it lightened up the front end? Thanks.
