Maybe it is not Electrical (will not idle, lots of top end)

I thought my problem was electrical and maybe it still is.
When you start my Raptor cold it idles. If you rev it up a little it is rough.
However if you just get the thing going and rev it out. The thing takes off from mid to top end. I mean the thing runs perfect.
But only for a few runs then when you let the idle down it dies and will not restart
And when it tries a bunch of smoke comes out the airbox.
What the hell? I just adjusted the valves. It is running the same now as before I adjusted them. I know that is not it.
Could it be my Air screw adjustments?
Idles good when it is cold. Just when it warms up it will not idle.

It could be, it sounds like your getting to much gas in idle, if so the smoke coming from your air box is white then its getting way to much fuel try taking the filter and lid off, to see if it clears up.

When you adjust the valves the piston must be at TDC on the compression stroke. As you kno the I mark has to line up with the guide, or "stationary pointer. Check and see, hmm.

O and also, a strected timing chain, someone was talking about that. They said you'll have more top end, but no bottom. Maybe that?

Try this:
Pull out the choke plunger were it goes into the carb and check
#1- the spring
#2- the oil ring
#3- with it removed see how well it moves in and out with the presure from the spring and pull it a bit by hand to see if it still needs to come out.
#4- before reassembling shoot some cable lube down the cable and work it in.
#5- lube the o-ring on the plunger and work it in and out the carb body several times while relubing.
Reassemble and give it a try, like Alien said sounds like your running rich and this could be the cause Good luck!

Your not going to like this but, you have a tight valve or 2 or 3.. After it gets to running temp the clearance changes and you lose compression because you have a tight valve. That is why you are getting "smoke" in the air box. The valve is staying open on the compression stroke. Think about it. New bike, runs great. Do valve adjustment... runs bad. Your going to have to take it apart again and recheck them or pay a shop to do it, and stop messing with the carbs! they are surely not the problem.
