Default Tranny backlash getting worse?

I've only got about 15-20 hours on my V-Force. The gear backlash, that everybody seems to have, seems to be getting worse with time. At a recent trip to the dunes in OR., some people actually thought I was breaking down due to the LOUD clunking noise when I let off on the throttle, or even when the throttle is held at a point neutral to the speed of the bike....Is this normal? It is embarrassing! When it was new, I didn't notice the noise at all. Can anyone tell me how persistantly loud the noise gets before it levels off? Allen

I don't know if it the same on a v-force, but on the P650 when we get that sound the gear shifter needs to be adjusted. Don't know if that helps any, but if it is loud enough that others are asking about it I wouldn't think it is normal.
