Hey guys, I just got me a 400ex about 2 weeks ago......and I love it [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] I know quads need their oil changed quite a bit. I am gonna change in tomorrow cause I don`t know when the last guy changed it. When do you guys change ur oil? I was thinking changing it after going through 3 tankfuls of gas. Is that doing too much/too little or about right? Thanx guys!

 

I change mine about every month or so depending on how much i ride.

 

I would say that you should chang eit every 3-5 rides. It depends on your riding conditions, dusty = more changes, air box lid off = more frequently. You get the idea.

 

as often as possible. its so cheap and easy.

 

This just reminded me that mine needs changing. I'm going to try Mobil 1 Synthetic.

 

once u go synthetic u can never go back& i heard it will cause your clutch to sliup so good luck with it man....

 

I tried synthetic blend and all is good. Going to try full next time around, will let you know

 

I do it every 500 miles.

 

I change it when the light comes on, I think it comes on at 600 miles. It takes 6 quarts+ filter $24, just like a V8 truck and you have to remove skid plates to get the filter off. I wish mine was also cheap and easy to change oil in.

 

Oil and filter every five hundred miles. Keep your air filter clean too.
