I just recently wrecked my quad and was trying to put it back together saturday night. I ended up having to weld the frame, but I made a crucial mistake, I didnt unhook the battery. Now I have no spark at all. The electric start will roll over but it will not start or give me any spark at all. I have heard that it could be the stator, the cdi, or the coil, but I dont want to spend 300+ dollars and not have the right thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

My bet is on the CDI.

I would find someone near you or a friend to let you test with his or send yours to someone else.

I'd even test it if you pay for shipping both ways - I'll just throw it in my buddies 03 raptor.

 

I have an 03, but my cousin has an 02. Do you know if it would make a difference being a different year if I tested it on his machine? I am going to have him bring his over tomorrow, but I dont know if they are programmed differently. I appreciate the offer, If the 2 model years are different, I will probably take you up on that offer.

The cdi is the black flat box mounted upright behind the battery correct? I called my local dealer, price is 297. Anyone have any suggestions for aftermarket???

 

I think their is an aftermarket one by Dyna for drag racers but its ALOT more than you need.

I am 99% sure the 2002 and up are all the same. If there is any doubt check the wire colors - they should match 100% before I would try it.
