how can I make the front suspension of a 250x/300ex look/preform like that of a 400, they have much more wheel travel and sit taller. I know I will need new a arms and shocks, but what kind what size? any ideas?

For the life of me, I have never been able to figure this one out. If you look at a 400EX, the front shocks are about 4-5 inches longer than the shocks on a 300EX. But why does the 400EX only have 1.5 more inches of suspension travel up front than a 300EX.
Also, even with rear linkage. The rear suspension travel is just over an inch more than a 300EX. Which has a solid rear shock.

Seems like a waste. All of the extra suspension, but not that much more wheel travel.

300EX: Front Suspension-Double-wishbone; dual hydraulic shocks; 5-position spring preload adjustability; 6.7 inches travel
Rear Suspension-Swingarm with single shock; 5-position spring preload adjustability; 7.9 inches travel

400EX:
Front Suspension-Independent double-wishbone with Showa shocks, 5-position spring preload adjustability; 8.2 inches travel
Rear Suspension-Pro-Link® single Showa shock with spring preload adjustability; 9.1 inches travel

There is a place here in Phoenix called ATV Racing which sells a kit to install 250R front suspension (close enough to a 400EX) on the 250X/300EX. Their phone number is (623) 516-8640. They usually advertise in Dirt Wheels. I believe the kit consists of a new upper shock mount. You then supply a set of 250R shocks and a-arms. I am not sure, but I think the a-arms bolt directly to the 250X frame.

I would also suggest the 250R shock tower set up on a 300ex i have this on my TC 405ex with burguard +2 A ARMS The kit was arounbd $120 and you have to weld it to the frame it makes a big difference compared to the stock 300ex shocks or 250x . Hey cstark tell me more about your TC racing 300ex>>

I have 400EX front shocks and A-arms on my 350XX (300EX frame, 350X motor). I made my own bracket out of 1/8" steel and I made it so it bolts up to the stock location so you don't have to weld anything to your frame and if you ever want to sell the atv you can easily put the stock shocks back on by simply unbolting the bracket. I had 250R shocks at first but went to the 400EX parts because they are much cheaper brand new than used 250R parts. I am thinking about selling these brackets that bolt on, what do you think?
